Carles Puyol put to fail to notice Euro 2012 for his knee injury
Barcelona’s Spanish intercontinental defender Carles Puyol could be lined out of Euro 2012 after being told he requires an procedure.
The 34-year-old was sidelined for three months previous this year with knee problem and Barca established he is now predictable to be out for six weeks.
After tests were conducted it was determined he would have arthroscopic operation  on 12 May- the club said.
Spain’s first game of Euro 2012 is alongside Italy on 10 June.
Vicente Del Bosque, who coaches reigning European champions Spain, will broadcast a temporary team on 15 May, which will be whittled down to a final team on 27 May.
Puyol qualified uneasiness in his knee through Saturday’s La Liga home conquest over Espanyol.
He will miss Barca’s final game of the La Liga season at Real Betis and Pep Guardiola’s last game as trainer, the Copa del Rey final on 25 May alongside Athletic Bilbao.
The influential protector has been a consistent company in the Spanish defence for more than a decade and has made 99 appearances for the world and European champions, scoring the winning goal in Spain’s 1-0 semi-final conquest against Germany at the 2010 World Cup.
And previous Spain and Middlesbrough midfielder Gaizka Mendieta believes Puyol could be missed more off the pitch than on it if he was absent from the competition.
It is definitely a blow- he told BBC Sport.
Anyone missing is significant, and particularly someone like Puyol who is so practiced. He is such an significant figure for the bandage room.
Within the group, you can have Alvaro Arbeloa as a right-back and put Sergio Ramos at centre-back, and you have it sorted.
There is no need for new players. providentially, Spain have so many options.
